Well I won’t have pics this week because I lent my adaptor to an elder and haven’t gotten it back so sorry about that! But this week was really good! Really normal :) Something I learned this week was the importance of asking questions to verify if people actually understand. I thought we had found a golden investigator and at the end of the lesson I felt to ask some simple questions and it turns out that she didn’t understand ANYTHING. That was pretty discouraging and humbling :/ 

The man I wrote about a few weeks ago, Juan Carlos, has been coming to church these last weeks!! I have high hopes for him but he does have lots of doubts. But he also has lots of real intent so were just trusting in the Spirit right now!!

Siempre Gano

Hola todos!! This was another great week out here! For my birthday we bought 4.5 pounds of ice cream and ate it all that night :) It was awesome. Best birthday ever. My mom never let me do that before so you could say I´m living it up being all alone out here!! ;)

Other than that we had lots of great lessons this week about the Restoration. I have strengthened my testimony of the restoration so much out here. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and I love defending it and teaching about it with boldness. This week I learned lots about how the only one we need to fear is God so I´m not scared to say things how they are anymore ;) And I know I shouldn´t do this, but I did enjoy a good bible bash this week. Everyone says no one wins in a bible bash but that´s not true because I definitely won ;) 

This week we also had the baptism of a kid named Lazaro. We reactivated his family and he had never been baptized so we took advantage of the situation and made sure to get him good and wet. It was a great service and I loved what one of his primary teachers said, "Today you did what Jesus did, and that says everything." Let’s all try and do every day what Jesus did and I know the world will be better for it!!

Destino Divino

Thanks everyone for the birthday wishes! Sorry if I didn´t get around to responding to every email but I wanted to write this email today because I had a pretty cool experience this week! 

I was on divisions with a new elder in my district and we were looking for a man in a ghetto that had talked to the sisters a while ago but were about to leave without having found him. As we left, we passed a man on the street and said hello to him and kept going. After he got a little passed us, the Spirit hit me super hard and I turned around and called out to him. Turns out he was the very dude we had been looking for in that area. He took us to his house and let us teach him. He is GOLDEN. The coolest part though was when we started teaching him, he explained to us that he had already received missionaries 20 years ago and had some notion about the book of Mormon and the Restoration. He asked us our names and when i said "Elder Nixon" he responded, "I once knew a Nixon. His name was Elder too!"

Well we talked it out a little and I´m pretty sure it checks out. I think he was an old investigator of my uncle who served in this same town about 20 years ago!! That was pretty cool how it all worked out!! I´m super excited to keep teaching him!!

This week was great! The weather this year thankfully has been much more mild and I haven´t melted completely....yet.... but don´t worry I´m sure the day will come. Um this week was super normal and I don´t have any time. Sorry for the lame email but I will do better next week :)

I don´t have tons of time but I wanted to put a quick experience I had yesterday and this last week here. I have learned that success is a gift from the Lord. It is something that He determines and He gives to us according to His will. Sometimes we work our hearts out and don´t see the results we want. That doesn´t mean that the Lord didn´t bless us. It just means He has a different idea of what we need! This week I had the unique opportunity while driving to church with a member to see a kid we teach with his grandma literally running to get to church on time. I will never forget that image and how it made me feel. It´s all about faith. Do we really trust that success comes with and from the Lord? I love you all tons.

Navidad

Well it was a great week!! It was great to talk to the fam and have a nice calm and hot Christmas out here in Argentina! We ate with some members on Christmas eve which was really nice and they helped us feel really at home and comfortable. Then on Christmas I cooked maybe the best meat I´ve had in Argentina up till now. So yeah, we ate really good. That was kinda the highlight of the week

Other than that, we spent the week working hard and sweating lots. We were able to see a few miracles as we looked for new people to teach. Our goal is to find at least 10 new people every week and we usually get it. But yesterday on Sunday we only had 4 and Sunday is the hardest day to find here. But we were able to enter 2 houses and teach two families and ended up finding 8 people that day. It was awesome!

I´m doing well out here! Love the mission and love all of you!!

Thoughts of Christmas

This week we had a zone conference and we watched a video of Christ´s birth and I had some thoughts on it that I wanted to share with everyone for this Christmas!  I thought about what was close to Christ when He was born. A manger, a stable, sheep, shepherds, etc. Those are all things very humble and very plain but nowadays, when we think of a manger, we think of Christ and the very image of a manger has power to bring the Spirit. Before Christ was born, the image of a manger would have just made people think of where pigs eat. What I´m going at is that through Christ, the plain and simple- the humble- becomes something sacred. He can take us in our weakness and plainness and he can make us into something far greater. As a missionary, I have learned that God sanctifies the weak and simple to become great and mighty. Just as He did with the manger and shepherds through Jesus Christ. We should be representatives of Jesus Christ. The Manger brings the spirit because it makes us think of Jesus. We should live so that when others see us, the think of Jesus too.

Sorry that was kinda long. I love this time of year and I love each one of you. Oh yeah and something kinda cool is that one of the girls that sings that really famous version of "If You Could Hie to Kolob" and "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" mixed together is in my zone actually so we got to hear her perform too and that was pretty neat!
