How the Mighty Have Fallen

Well, this morning it was probably a brisk 70 degrees and I´m ashamed to say I was straight up freezing. I don´t know if it’s the humidity or if I really have just become a wimp to the cold. It was a pretty sad realization.

This week will mark one year that I received my mission call. That´s pretty insane. Time keeps flying!

This week was really good. We are teaching this 11-year-old girl named Magali and her aunt, but this week had to stop teaching her aunt for complicated reasons. But this little girl is a stud. She loves to read the book of Mormon and always reads what we leave her, so this last week we told her to start with 1 Nefi 1. When we came back a week later, she was in Mosiah 18. that´s pretty much a third of the book so it was definitely a really cool experience to listen to her talk about all the stories she liked. It would be my prayer that all of us read this book of Mormon like Magali.

That would be my thought for the week. I started my mission talking to you all a lot about the Book of Mormon and maybe it´s time to remind everyone just how important it is. PLEASE READ IT EVERY DAY and you will never fall.

Well, that´s it. I love you all lots

Down with Lone Peak!

We had a good week out here in Rosario! The weather is starting to calm down thankfully. Still killer hot some days but there`s usually a nice cool breeze so we get by :)

This week I had divisions with a brand new elder- Elder Fackrell. He´s a super good dude, but he went to Lone Peak in High School so I dunno how I feel about that...

During those divisions, we entered a little ghetto that we have in our area to teach a recent convert but instead found ourselves in the house of their sister as she explained to us that evil spirits lived in her home and she wanted up to cast them out. We said a prayer and I think it went good. I honestly still dunno what to think of it all. It was mostly just weird. Like voodoo weird. BLEHH

That recent convert family that we went to visit though are amazing. They are super humble and really trying to make an effort to come to Christ. I´ll send a picture of us with them. Their last name is Verdun and I love them so yeah. Christ is changing me out here people!!!

Con amor,

Elder Nixon

The pic of us in baptismal clothes was for an open house that we did in the chapel here to invite investigators and give them tours. So, of course, we decided to take a basic mirror selfie because stuff like that is fun as a missionary.

Alma 38:5

It was a really good and really long week of work. The best part was yesterday. We found so many people just ready to hear the message of the restoration.

I´m sure many of you already know but this week I was faced with a pretty big trial learning that my Dad has some pretty serious problems with his health. It was really hard for me to focus, especially Saturday morning but my comp read to me the scripture I needed to hear. Alma 38:5. You should all read it but basically it talks about trusting God and receiving His help. I decided to do that and just got over my own worries and focused on the work. That day we did splits with the Priests in our ward and had an incredible experience. All three of the kids said they have so much more desire to serve a mission now. We really did see miracles together and I was really happy to be able to work with the youth.

We will each choose whether trials break us or make us stronger in Christ. I encourage each of you in your own situations to turn to God more and trust Him more. That is how we will be able to come to Christ and be perfected in Him. Choose to be awesome :)

I love you all,

Elder Nixon

here is a photo of the splits we did!

The power of the Book of Mormon

Well world Imma keep this one short and sweet. We met some crazy people this week. We had an evangelist call us to repentance and a less active try to explain why Diego Maradona is a prophet.

The best part of the week was a lesson with a man named Rogelio. He told us after we explained the first vision and the Book of Mormon that he wanted to open the book randomly and then have me read it so he could decide if the book is true or not. He opened randomly to Helaman 13:7 and I read to him "I have been sent to you to declare glad tidings of great joy" The spirit was really strong for sure.

That’s all I got guys. I love you all lots and always have you in my prayers and heart.

Con mucho amor,

Elder Nixon
